Counselling and Coaching Supervision

Counselling Supervision

Supervision is a professional working alliance that has as one of its basic premises that it is usually colleague to colleague, dependent on the supervisee’s level of training and experience.

My aim is to provide an open, supportive relationship that provides the elements essential for personal and professional development. To do this I offer a welcoming, reflective space for professional practitioners and students that is supportive, creative and educational. This, I hope, will allow you to review, explore, create and question whilst gaining feedback validation and insight in relation to your practice as well as awareness of any of your own potential issues.

The relationship that develops between us is important and together we will work in a way that will best help you find and develop your strengths and personal style.

My personal approach

I am a Relational and Integrative therapist and I offer supervision within the framework that is bounded by the Core Conditions of Rogerian practise. My approach is based on a person centred, relational foundation on which I have integrated the humanistic, creative approaches of Gestalt, TA and NLP.

Coaching Supervision

Whilst supervision is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended as a way of enhancing a coaches style and approach. Over the next few years as the standards develop in the field of professional and executive coaching, it is expected that mandatory supervision will be required by a number of leading bodies in the field.

Many coaches work on their own and it is important to have a safe environment in which to explore what is happening for them in their coaching relationships. As a coaching supervisor I offer continuing support, learning and personal development. Supervision can also act as a form of quality control, a check that the process is running smoothly and that all key areas are being covered adequately.

From time to time clients become stuck and it can be that there are other psychological issues involved sabotaging the coaching process. It is often unclear just when it would be best to refer a coaching client for counselling or psychotherapy. As a qualified counsellor and coach we would look together at when it may be necessary to refer a client on for other profession help.
